Strategic Areas of Focus

On April 14, 2007, members of Environment North engaged in a Strategic Planning Session. They developed a strategic plan to guide the organisation in the coming years (click here to view entire report). Four strategic areas of focus were developed. Environment North Committees have developed around some of these areas of focus and volunteer opportunities are available. Goals and action plans have been developed for each area.

Lands and Water

To recognize, protect and preserve land and water ecosystems through influencing public policy and its implementation.

Human and Ecosystem Health

To educate the public about the dangers of chemicals, and poor land, water and air use; and provide them with alternatives.

Climate Change and Energy

To create awareness and effect change on climate change and its impacts in Northwestern Ontario.

Community Sustainability

To promote community-based resource management.
To empower regional citizens to become more environmentally responsible decision makers.
