Green Development Standards in Thunder Bay
On April 14, the Thunder Bay Climate Transition Collaborative made a DEPTUTATION TO CITY COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF THE ACCELERATION OF ADOPTION OF GREEN DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS FOR THUNDER BAY.
The Thunder Bay Climate Transition Collaborative consists of members from a number of organizations including Environment North who encourage progress on the City of Thunder Bay's Net Zero Strategy.
The vote was in favour of accelerating adoption of Green Development Standards (GDS) with councillors voting 8-3. Information on GDS provided by the deputation will be given to City Administration who will advise Council on requirements for implementing green development standards for Thunder Bay.
Green Building Standards help promote innovation and green economic development. Well designed energy efficient buildings are less costly to operate and can provide healthier and more comfortable indoor spaces.
You can show your support by attending the City Council Meeting on April 14, 2025 or sending an email to a member(s) of City Council.
