At its core, Bill 5 prioritizes economic growth over sustainability, sacrificing critical environmental protections in order to "unleash" energy and infrastructure development and resource extraction. By creating "Special Economic Zones" - exempting projects from the Environmental Assessment Act, repealing the Endangered Species Act, and shortening public consultation periods, this bill paves the way for unchecked development without due oversight. Our wetlands, forests, and waterways - already under immense pressure - face irreversible harm. 

 

Opposition to the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act is continuing.  We urge you to contact your MPP  (see below) and let them know about your concerns.  You can also help by spreading the word to your friends, families, and social networks.
