Toxins in Everyday Life

Dr. Rick Smith was the guest speaker at the first Environment North Environmental Learning and Sharing Seminar Series.  For the first seminar we partnered with EcoSuperior and Science North. Other speakers at this very well attended event were Karen Courtney of Bare Organics (click here to read her blog) and a representative from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

Dr. Rick Smith is a well-known environmentalist and bestselling author of "Slow Death by Rubber Duck: How the Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Life Affects Our Health".  Rick Smith will discussed how toxins from everyday household products make their way inside us and the impact that they have on our health.  He also shared with us how to avoid these toxins and how we can help make these products safer. Dr. Smith helped develop Canada's Chemical Management Plan. He obtained his PhD in biology from the University of Guelph.
