Comments regarding the Electricity Supply Mix Directive
Environment North has written comments to the Ontario Ministry of Energy regarding the future sources of electrical power in Ontario. Environment North opposes the construction of new nuclear facilities at the Darlington Nuclear Power Plant (EBR: 011-1701).

Comments regarding the Renewal Water Management Plan for the Nipigon River System
Environment North submitted comments to the Renewable Energy Planner for the Nipigon District concerning the renewal water management plan for the Nipigon River System which includes a proposal to build a two hydroelectric power generation stations on the Little Jackfish producing 100 Megawatts of electricity. Initial concerns are related to the determination of normal water flow conditions.

Three decades ago, nuclear waste disposal was a hot topic Northwestern Ontario. Test drilling was underway in Atikokan, with support by some local businesses but major opposition was expressed by people in Atikokan and other communities along proposed transportation routes.
